On a mission (Part 2)...

the first part being my post on the Get Funky & Craft blog this morning :) and it was about using up our leftovers/off cuts/scraps. What ever you like to call them it remains the same problem, they mount up pretty quickly. I used some of my left overs on five different cards this week and I haven't even made a small dent in them!
My Funky Hand left overs folder

and the cards I made from it :)

I've used other little bits found on my desk too (sorry Anice :)) The papers and the digi stamps are really handy as I make c6 cards for hubby to take when he is dj'ing to give to his brides and grooms so left overs get to good use and I always make sure I have a sheet of precoloured digi stamps in the folder too then I can make a card in minutes.

I hope this gives you a little inspiration to use up your scraps ( you can  always take part in Di's Snippet Challenge too.

Take care and come back soon :) x

Show me yours.....

and I'll show you mine!!! I mean the photo of my desk :)

This was taken at two o'clock this morning when I was putting these 50 wedding invitations together. I hadn't realised how late it was so I gave it another half hour and fell into bed!!

If you visit the Stamping Ground blog run by the lovely Julia it explains what is going on and how you can join in with the participants of What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday #195. I'm sorry I didn't comment much last week but I was struck down by the lousy flu bug and spent more time asleep than I did awake. I'm ok now apart from the cough which still hurts my chest :(

Thanks for dropping by and having a look. Please leave me a message so I can return the visit. xx

Waffle Tuesday....

but only just, I'm getting this one started by the skin of my teeth but won't get it published on Tuesday as it's later than I thought it was!! This is the final week for the Sketch Challenge over on Kathy's Waffle

You still have time to join us so please don't be shy, show us your work :) xx

Kathy's Waffle

Week 2. I tried a different shape as the centre piece of my DT card for Kathy's Waffle Sketch File this week but you can stick to the circle is you want. As long as we can see the sketch it's up to you how you use it :)

I made this for my Son in law's birthday on Sunday. The paper across the middle is by My Mind's Eye but I'm not sure about the rest as they were all pieces from my off cut box. The image was a freebie from somewhere but I can't remember where and I can't find it in my documents either so I don't know where it's from.

Don't forget to point us in the direction of your work so we can come and have a look.
Take care, back soon xx

My poor desk

Well it's Wednesday again and I have absolutely nothing on my desk at all to show over at What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday this week. I have been holed up on the settee for three days and I feel dreadful. I've got this man flu bug that's going round and as well as having no energy at all, my ribs are killing me from coughing :(
So onto my poor desk

I had several people ask me about the eBosser last week but I thought I would save my reply till this week and make a total muppet of myself in public. When trying to sort out my stuck die in my poorly ebosser what do you think was the one thing I didn't check? Yes, you guessed it, the plug!!! I had put a big box on top of the plug and hadn't noticed that it had knocked the switch to off. So the answer to the question quite a few people wanted to know is yes....the ebosser works a dream.

In reply to Julia's question......I really like the ebosser Julia and find it very convenient to have on the side of my desk, it's so easy just to load a die into the machine and carry on with what you were doing. It also doesn't take up very much space unlike the Big Shot Pro, which I was saving up for. I won't get rid of my Big Shot because I sometimes need a lot of more than one die cut for my wedding stationery and my mum takes it home with her to cut some for me but I still have a cutter too. I will say though that although it has a carry handle I wouldn't like to carry it very far, it's blooming heavy.

I'm going back to sleep now but will be up tomorrow as I have work to catch up on.

Take care and thanks for dropping by. :)

Keep it safe!

This box was a commission and was supposed to be blogged on Saturday but as I haven't felt much like doing anything, I'm playing catch up again!

I've made quite a few of these personalised boxes for the same customer, in all colours, (as well as loads of cards)  it's so lovely getting repeat custom :)

I've used a mix of die cut flowers and paper tea roses and buds along with the beautiful red ribbon and diamantes. The red card matched the ribbon perfectly.

Thanks Jen, your orders are much appreciated. xx

Funky Friday

Well peeps, true to form I am late again. I don't know what it is about these Fridays but I simply end up too busy to update my blog! This week, however is different as I'm not very well. I've got this darned cold/flu bug which is going around at the moment :( My throat feels as though I'm chewing glass, I've got a barking cough, am hot one minute and cold the next and I don't know where hurts the most. Thank you darling #2 daughter...this is one thing I wouldn't have minded you not sharing!!!

My cards were ready in plenty of time to post and I don't know why I didn't schedule them at the beginning of the week when I scheduled my Kanban post, but there you go. Maybe this week I will get my cards made early again and get them up on a post just in case something happens again, it would be nice to actually show them on a Friday as I should.

I have made two very different cards this week. The first is a quick card made with off cuts of paper from one of the Christmas collections, left over from Christmas cards, and a pre coloured image from the Wishes and Kissed cd

A typewritten sentiment and an off cut of red ribbon finished the card ready for hubby to take to work with him on Friday morning ready for the evening wedding reception he was djing at.
The second card is from the new download collection Where The Fairies Live and I coloured it with Promarkers. I love these little tree houses, they are so cute! The papers are off cuts again,. The horizontal paper is from the Wishes and Kisses cd, I'm not sure about the others.

Well that's it for me tonight but I will definitely be back tomorrow to finally update here from the weekend.

Take care, sleep tight and thanks for dropping in! :) xx

Sunrise

The newspaper yesterday said that we might get the rotten snow storms from the US today, do you think they could be right?

Red sky at night - shepherd's delight,
Red sky in the morning, - shepherd's warning!
This was the view from my window about five minutes ago, it's quite impressive isn't it?

bfn x

Edited to add the same view at one o'clock! I think you can just about make out the snow!
and the same view at two thirty! (and I promise I won't post any more lol)
xx

What's on yours?

Good morning world! It is early but I have loads to do so I thought I would ease myself into my day gently by posting my desk. Not literally as it would take too long to empty and wrap up but today is What's on your workdesk Wednesday #193 (organised by Julia, boss lady of the Stamping Ground blog) so here are my photos :)

As you will see, I managed to get the side of my desk cleared to house the Ebosser and as you will also see, the boxes to make my Kanban DT samples are on the floor next to my desk! I have some wedding invitation samples to make today, there are copies of them on the Ebosser but first I need to try and get said machine working. I used it on Saturday after getting my plates stuck and getting them out again with a mallet (!) as advised, I used it on Monday and it worked fine. I went to use it yesterday with my new box die, which you can see on the picture below, and..............zilch so then it was a quick run through everything I could think of but still nothing so it was out with the trusty Big Shot.
This is my WIP basket.....blank cards with printed backs ready to make into cards, stray card bags, finished cards and anything else that ends up on my desk but doesn't have a home.

Right I'm off to find my instructions of how to bully the Ebosser into working, back soon :)

TFL x

PS the car ISN'T on  my desk lol

I'll be adding this to the following challenge (s)

We would love you to have a little play with us :)
Thanks for dropping by.

What's on yours?

It's Wednesday again already and today is the day we get to travel the world without moving from our desks. Mine is ready for my next wedding stationery order so although it's still not as tidy as I would like it, I have got room to work!

Balloons? They were on the tables at a wedding open evening I did last Thursday evening and the couple who do the balloons usually leave them behind and the hotel disposes of them. I wanted to match some ribbon to the beautiful teal colour of the string (which are hidden behind my overflowing basket) so he said to just take them

Right, that's it for now. If you want to know all about the What's on Your Workday world tour (!) then hop over to Julia's blog, Stamping Ground and all the info you need is there. My aim this week is to try to get all the way round all of the desks.....watch this space! :)

Back soon with the new sketch from Kathy's Waffle.
Thanks for dropping by.

Here's one I made earlier!!

Another scheduled post already, that's twice in one week. I have to take my youngest daughter up to Durham tomorrow to get a new passport. She used hers for ID in town and it has either been stolen or she has lost it. Apparently now the police have to send them straight back to Liverpool if any are handed in and if any of the regional passport offices get any handed in they are destroyed. They then sting you for £103 to fast track a new passport. She needs it urgently as she and a friend are going to a concert in Dublin in four weeks. I wouldn't mind but she has only had her (lost) passport for about 18 months :( Still, I suppose it gets me out of the house for a couple of hours and Durham is lovely. I haven't been for about 20 years so I suppose it will have changed a bit lol. My parents used to have a newsagents and tearoom in the town centre.

So more cards for you!

I've had this Penny Black stamp for a long time and still use it quite a bit. I love the sentiment underneath it too.

"A friend is like a good bra: hard to find, comfortable, supportive, always lifts you up, makes you look better, never lets you down or leaves you hanging, and always close to your heart."

Author: Unknown
One of my favourite Lili Of The Valley images. Ribbon from Ribbon Oasis and finished with some small crystals.
I didn't realise until I opened this that it was a Papermania card making kit, I thought it was just a decoupage kit. I will use all the elements separately though and get a few cards from the pack instead of just the one.
Another very quick and easy card to make. I bought this bassinet die cut years ago but haven't a clue where from. I think it was a pack of 10 and this might be the last one but I may come across others in my quest for organisation!! I put it all together onto a piece of white hammered card then mounted it onto a piece of the beautiful Kanban paper from the Sugar Buttons paper pad from Crafted By You. The ribbon, ric rac, teddy etc were all from my stock. I made this card for one of 'my couples' whose wedding stationery I made about two and a half years ago. Baby Alex is about 10 days old now....congratulations, Jo and Phil xx

That's it for now, I shall be back soon (unless I get kidnapped in Durham lol)

Less Is More

The remit this week is "Onto this weeks challenge...  It's a colour challenge this week and it's got to be one of our favourites ever...
Kraft & Kreme

We want to see you use only kraft and cream on your creations this week...
I used a cream pearlised card blank, with an extra piece for stamping on, a piece of a brown envelope, all of the stamps are from a set called "It's Your Birthday" by Clearly Besotted stamps (have I mentioned yet that I love these stamps? lol) stamped using a Sepia ink pad. I didn't have any thin brown ribbon so I coloured white with a walnut stain and added a little crystal to the middle of the bow...jobs a goodun :)

Thanks for looking. xx
